Human Plasma Extrinsic Pathway Inhibitor Activity : It . Plasma Levels in

چکیده
Plasma or serum extrinsic pathway inhibitor (EPI) activity was measured in 24 patients with disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) and in 23 patients with severe hepatocellular disease. EPI was measured as activity in a test sample that inhibitied factor VIla/tissue factor (TF)catalyzed activation of 3H-factor IX (activation peptide release) in the presence of factor X. Of the 24 patients with DIC. 1 3 had sepsis and five had metastatic carcinoma. disorders in which tissue factor is believed to initiate DIC. EPI activity ranged from 68% to 300% (mean 1 34% ± 50%). Serial measurements in nine patients failed to show depletion of EPI activity coincident with worsening DIC. DIC induced by tissue factor or other activating materials may progress despite normal EPI levels. In the

Human plasma extrinsic pathway inhibitor activity: I. Standardization of assay and evaluation of physiologic variables.
An assay was standardized to measure extrinsic pathway inhibitor (EPI) activity in human plasma. Variables that could potentially influence its measurement were systematically examined. The coefficient of variation of the assay was 6.3% for the same sample assayed on different days. The linear regression line for a plot of observed v expected values of mixtures of plasmas with different EPI lev...

The current study was designed to investigate the role of zinc supplementation on the qualitative and quantitative properties of seminal fluid, in parallel with the UA level and urate pathway enzymes in the semen of...

متن کاملParadoxical enhancement of the intrinsic pathway-induced thrombin generation in human plasma by melagatran, a direct thrombin inhibitor, but not edoxaban, a direct factor Xa inhibitor, or heparin.
INTRODUCTION The blood coagulation cascade consists of two pathways, the tissue factor (TF)-dependent extrinsic pathway and the contact factor-dependent intrinsic pathway. We have previously shown that a direct thrombin inhibitor, melagatran, paradoxically increased TF-induced thrombin generation (TG) in thrombomodulin (TM)-containing human plasma in vitro. However, the effect of melagatran on ...
متن کاملTissue factor pathway inhibitor in paediatric patients with nephrotic syndrome.
BACKGROUND: Tissue factor pathway inhibitor is an endogenous protease inhibitor that regulates the initiation of the extrinsic coagulation pathway by producing factor Xa-mediated feedback inhibition of the tissue factor/factor VIIa (TF/VIIA) catalytic complex. OBJECTIVES: To evaluate plasma TFPI levels in paediatric patients with nephrotic syndrome and its correlation with disease activity. S...
